I am proud of what we have accomplished. However, as I look ahead, there’s much yet to be done:
- Keeping our commitment to protect our families, neighborhoods, and communities. Public safety is my highest priority and we must honor that commitment, even in the face of shrinking resources.
- Moving forward to implement smart growth strategies to protect precious natural resources that support our treasured agricultural land and scenic open spaces. I will continue the fight to protect our incomparable coastal areas.
- Quickly moving to increase renewable energy sources and improve energy efficiency through green building and public transit. I believe our fight to address global climate change gives us the opportunity create new jobs in a green economy. This is an area where our County can lead the region, the state, and the country.
- Adapting County government to new and difficult budget realities. We must carefully and efficiently apply scarce funds to critical infrastructure projects, as well as continue to provide crucial County services. I’ll continue to work with Supervisors from around the state to advocate the reform of State government and to bring resources and authority home to the local level.
It’s been my privilege to serve this first term as your Second District Supervisor. I’ve met many new friends and I am deeply impressed by so many caring, energetic, and intelligent people who are deeply committed to their communities. These contacts give me great hope for our shared future.
With your support, I would be honored to continue my service to you. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
