Welcome to my campaign for San Luis Obispo County Supervisor. I hope you’ll spend a little time getting to know who I am, what I believe in, and what kind of representative I’ll be for the 2nd District.

My campaign will be about issues and ideas – how we’re going to lead this county toward a bright future in the face of many current challenges. In the same spirit, this web site is full of information – my positions on issues, as well as my personal background and community experience. If you need more information, have a question or suggestion, or want to get involved, you can contact my campaign directly.

As you’ll see here, I know what matters to our community and what I’d like to talk about during the campaign:

	I hold a deep commitment to the conservation of our precious land and resources.
	I want to find fair and broadly supported solutions to the challenges we face.
	I respect every individual’s rights and opinions. Every citizen deserves respect and fair treatment from their government.
	Economic opportunities that benefit the broad community are worth defending, and that requires speaking truth to power and standing against narrow self-interest. Special interests have no more rights or privileges before the Board of Supervisors than individual citizens.
	My door will always be open to you, no matter your income, politics, race, or faith.
	I believe in public service – it’s an honor to serve in public office.

San Luis Obispo County faces many challenges. My public service over the last 12 years – with advisory councils, land trusts, school committees and the County Planning Commission – makes me uniquely qualified to bring people together to work on issues such as

	Increasing affordable housing.
	Protecting our ag lands and open spaces.
	Assuring medical and mental health care for all county residents.

I know we can build a great future for SLO County and I want to share my optimism with you. I also hope you’ll share your thoughts with me:

	What bothers you about county government?
	What are the bright spots? What gives you hope about our future?
	Got any good ideas you’d like to share?

I fully realize that one Supervisor can’t take on all the County’s challenges alone. Today I’m honored to have the support of some exceptional people – including current District 2 Supervisor Shirley Bianchi, as well as other environmental leaders, ranchers, farmers, business owners and individual citizens.
